ABOUT
Named New York City's Most In-demand Yoga Instructor by Manhattan Magazine, Jen Carter is a world traveling yoga and meditation teacher, mindfulness coach, and founder of ZenJen Yoga. She includes the physical practice of yoga, meditation, and mindful living as a three-pronged approach to overall health and wellness.
Prior to teaching, Jen had been on the fast track with a successful corporate career. However, a traumatic accident in 2010 caused Jen to awaken to the healing benefits of yoga and become a teacher.
Jen originally studied Ashtanga Yoga through It’s Yoga, based in San Francisco, and she has continued her yoga studies in NYC and around the world at Yoga Vida, Pure Yoga, and Ishta Yoga under the guidance of Yogiraj Alan Finger. She has an A list celebrity and corporate clientele including large companies such as Ebay, Pinterest, Ritz Carlton, Calvin Klein, Hyatt, Uber, About.com, Estée Lauder Companies, Refinery29, and Weight Watchers. She has been featured in Self Magazine, Manhattan Magazine, New York Yoga and Life, and many other publications.
Outside of the US, you can find Jen hosting luxury yoga and meditation retreats around the world with EAT.PRAY.MOVE. Together with founder, Erin Lewis, they teach yoga and meditation in unique destinations including Morocco, Croatia, Italy, India, Iceland, France, Japan, and Indonesia. These unique adventure luxury yoga retreats have been featured in Time Magazine, Elle Magazine, O Magazine, and HuffPost Travel.
Whether you are in a class with Jen in the US, abroad, or virtually online, you will find Jen’s philosophy and practice to be consistent. She challenges her students to push beyond their self-limitations all while keeping a light-hearted, “don’t take myself too seriously” attitude. Jen believes yoga and life should be practiced with focus, but most importantly with FUN!
